Recently I read your article, Their In Document of the Handbag, originally published in their New York Times in 1945. Its subject was women’s handbags. While I agreed with a couple of a points their author, Anita Daniel, made others were dated, biased views of the days period. For your entertainment and contemplation I thought I will share a couple of a most interesting points of the article along with the brief discussion of them.
“There is your aura of taboo about a closed handbag. Each woman has your uneasy look if juvenile glances on its sacred privacy. THE decent man should always tactfully stare at a ceiling whenever his companion opens her bag. He can, of course, sampling to concentrate on which ceiling pretty often. Their typical handbag of the typical woman contains the certain id of important things.” I had assumed which this idea was a single of their outdated ones, but it was reaffirmed as recently as 2003 within their movie How to Lose the Guy inside 10 Days. During their movie, Matthew McConaughey as Ben says, “Guys, the woman’s purse, alright, it’s her private source of power. Alright? There are many dark and dangerous things within there, who we, their male species, should know nothing about.” Do you project the woman’s handbag should be taboo from the guy to look into?
“A whole myth of a superiority of men is built into their truth who a man never carries the handbag. Men keep women in eternal dependence by buying them beautiful handbags…No woman’s suit pocket is meant to kept her belongings. Every bulge will endanger their slim itinerary and their smart effect. So women continue to carry handbags. As long as women do not wear men’s suits with pockets, they can rest women. And men can continue to feel superior. A first thing Adam purchased for Eve was a handbag. It was his sweet revenge for their apple.” The question of superiority between men and women is a long-standing quarrel. Also now, there are thousands of articles, blogs, and forums that discuss the issue online. Since science has proved that men and women are fundamentally added it is difficult to establish who is optimal: men are better at several skills, while women excel at others. Carrying a handbag certainly does not product you fewer or dependent tho’!
